The importance of post-workout recovery
After finishing a tough workout, you probably feel like you’ve done everything you need to do for your body that day. In reality, tough workouts are great, but what you do in the next 60 minutes of recovery time is just as important if not more so!
If you aren’t refueling with the proper 2:1 ratio of protein to carbs after exercising, then you’re catabolizing your muscles- they’re basically eating themselves for fuel! The best way to do this is with a liquid, like a protein shake. Liquids are more bio-available than solids, meaning that your body absorbs them more quickly.
So next time you go to sit or lie down after exerting yourself, think again. Your workout isn’t really over until you follow the proper steps for post-recovery. Trust me – your body will thank you later!
