Many of us have heard for years that Turmeric can help reduce inflammation. I started taking a Turmeric supplement 3 months ago because the palm of my hand was developing a painful Dupuytren’s Contracture nodule as confirmed by a hand doctor. Dupuytren’s Contracture is an abnormal thickening of fascia, a layer of tissue under the skin, in the palm of your hand at the base of your fingers.) Over time 20% of people develop into the higher risk category of the band of tissue tightening so much it can pull finger(s) into a locked/curled position.
I was having pain in this nodule so a co-worker suggested I take a Turmeric supplement with ginger and pepper. Apparently Turmeric isn’t activated unless it has pepper in it. Within a few weeks the pain was completely gone. I kept on taking it because I felt like I recover faster from my workouts also. By the third month I noticed I could have a chocolate binge for a few days and didn’t get nearly the belly budge I have in the past. So, I’m hooked and even put my husband on it too and he seems to be benefiting as well.
I did a loading phase in which I took twice a day for 6 weeks then maintain by taking once a day with my morning protein shake. If you feel that it’s a bit much for your digestive system then ease off. It took my system a few weeks to get use to but now my digestion is so much better.
