What Do You Need To Supplement…Metagenics Line Up of Sports Nutrition
While I have been Nutrition coaching clients for years before and after Metagenics First Line Therapy Certification I always take a lot of client factors into consideration. Clients know you they getting scientific information from me regarding general and sports nutrition. There are a lot of snake oil salespersons out there pushing different pills and powders. You have to decide for yourself where you diet lacks nutrients and supplementation. What you are looking for is a support or to counter balance your overall eating plan. We know that your body just can’t make enough amino acids, some clients store too much fat or hormones are out of whack for various reasons. Injury or toxification happens, so where do you steer your plan when these things are present?
Let’s face it, there are times when we are stressed out and some turn to food or drink whilst others may hold it in and start loading up on cortisol which in turn can store fat in the abdomen all whilst making you even more stressed. Maybe you don’t get enough sunshine and need vitamin D boost from supplements. There are all sorts of reasons why people take a sum of pills and potions. During my husband’s morning ritual last week, he told me it involves 11 different pills, powders or potions, then of course there is the pre and post workout afternoon regimen. He recently stated it’s better to be his choice instead of the costly and side effects or mix of different prescribed drugs that many people are led or forced to take.
Our mission with our programs being personal training and nutrition coaching is to help people understand a balanced diet, create healthy habits and go in the direction of taking only necessary medicines that just can’t be avoided or changed with a better lifestyle.
I have done several posts on nutritional supplements over the years and it’s always at the forefront of supplementing one’s current program or making changes based on genetics. I love that we recently partnered with a supplement company that allows me to upload 23 & me raw data to view genomics reports and supplement recommendations. This is so cool. This is a free service for current clients. I uploaded my husband and my reports to see differences and there were many. Using common, sense, current diet analysis, blood work, personality, habits and genetic information is by far the best way to create a comprehensive and custom supplement and nutritional framework.
Doing a hair analysis is another way to get even more information to zone in on diet and chemicals that an individual may be sensitive. We partnered with another company for this piece of it and offer this a la cart product purchase. They test for over 1400 sensitivities. I cut almonds out of my diet due to my results.
My top supplements recommended to our clients is a vegan protein powder, branched chain amino acids, vitamin DK3, zinc, protein bars (as snacks or meals), probiotics if needed, detox program, Methyl folate B12 if needed, CoQ10, electrolytes. Some clients need magnesium and if could be either Magnesium Malate or Glycinate (the latter can cause IBS in some folks).
Here’s a link to some sports nutrition supplements from Metagenics.
Once there, you can search for some of the above recommended. The detox is called Clear Change Program or just purchase the detox powder to add a little to your day when you have gone off the rails. It’s called Ultra Renew.
Metagenics doesn’t have all the things I recommend which is why when I coach clients on nutrition, often carry products when onsite pro-shop or send links where to get even if I don’t make a buck off of it. You need results, pure supplements and consistency.

South Carolina Energy Fitness relocated site update: As of 4-20-2022. We have been very delayed with construction to our dismay. A schedule timeline was provided this week by contractor. Look forward to staying to it! We have painted first coat color(vibrant blue) for accent walls and painted other areas a shade of white. It looks great. Lots of supplies are at facility with more supplies like HVAC, tile for showers, glass garage door and glass double entry doors and many other smaller items. We will have track lighting like we did in Memphis which is so much better than harsh big box gyms.
