Test Your Metabolism Rate With This Easy Method
I’ve been reading the book lately and one of main ideas is that having a properly functioning metabolism is the key to avoiding many illnesses that plague us in today’s world. Things that you do or not do directly affect your metabolism.
I can double check the method I am about to share with you with my own BIA machine (bioelectrical impedance analysis). Although I will very soon check it the thermometer way just for my own curiosity sake. My bia machine has proven eye opening for many clients over the years. It can tell you how many calories you burn if you just laid around all day meaning it gives your basal metabolic rate. Since many of you reading this post don’t have access to such a device or my studio let me share with you another way.
Did you know that the average 98.6 temp has said to no longer be the average and is changing due to the human condition changing. More than 50% of the United States population is overweight meaning that metabolism is slower thus a lower temp reading. I saw this lately with my own children at the doctor’s office. My oldest son has the 98.6 temp and is tall and lean and a bit under weight. My youngest son is over a healthy body weight and body fat just a bit and his temp was lower.
Here’s the at Home Easy Method……Do you have a thermometer?
Create a log where you check your temperature several times a day for about 1 week. Test if before eating food and 30 minutes after eating food.
If your temperature went up that is great news as your body is working hard as digesting and creating fuel for your brain and body or at least storing future fuel when you need it for sports activities or general lifestyle tasks.
This is such an easy method and one quite frankly, I’m sad I didn’t think of myself as it’s so basic.
Low temp? cold? put on a sweater or take a hot bath
Make sure you are properly hydrated by drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces plus 4 ounces for every 15 minutes exercise.

If your metabolism is low there are certainly things that can crank it back up again but that’s for the next post. This one is about small bites of information as I’ve got a lot in the hopper these days.
