Skin and Nose Dry? Natural Solutions To Combat Cold Weather Side Effects
Last week I had to make adjustments to my skincare routine. I had felt like the sweets and chocolate from Christmas were showing on my skin. Not only was it dry skin but it was nose and a dry throat. It wasn’t until I make a statement to my husband about my skin being so bad and dry that he said some of it’s probably due to the indoor heat. Sometimes it takes someone else to give an outside observation or think about things differently for you to have the aha moment.
Being in tune with your body both nutritionally, skin care and physically can make a difference in your social and emotional well being. If you feel like you look terrible then you may isolate yourself. Instead try attacking it like a school or work project and how many different holistic solutions can you come up with to start easing the “pain” or “issue” facing you currently.
For the dry nose and throat which will also help with skin…..
I noticed my oldest son started taking DayQuil for a sore throat several mornings in a row. I started having a slight dry throat cough at night. After getting my humidifier out of the attic for myself and it working even after one night we will purchase one for his room as well. I also changed from vasoline to vaporub my nostrils before bed or running outside in the cold.
For the dry skin…
I have eliminated using face toner in the morning and just use as night
I switched from a lotion or cream based face moisturizer to a face oil from Now Sports along with a little bit of pure vitamin E oil.
I started drinking a little more water
I already use jojoba oil all year on my body which still feels great so sometimes if the cold weather effects I may add to twice daily after exercise when I am doing fascia blasting a few times per week.
What can you do?
- Drink less caffeine since it’s a diuretic
- Are you a man and have ZERO skin care routine? try jojoba on your face and body post shower or washing your face. (oh and if you have zero skin care routine you may want to start with washing your face, using a toner and a moisturizer)Why not jump in full boar.
- Maybe even go get a hydrating facial.
- Exercising and sweat can get some impurities out of your skin and improve blood flow when can make you glow.
- Eliminate or reduce alcohol as it’s the worst for your skin!
- Eat at minimum of 5-8 fruits and veggies. Hydrate from the inside out!
