TerraCycle..Ship for Free the Unrecyclable

Did you know there are a lot of companies helping with the environment by making it possible for you to ship back packaging for free?  I did not know this until a local City Council member that is into holistic living as well brought to my attention. I love learning new things that can help our environment and passing knowledge on to others.

Since I have lived in my new town of Travelers Rest, South Carolina since June 2020 recycling has not been possible to be picked up from our house. The kids have different jobs and we have always reminded them by shouting “Trash!” or “Recycle!” but the Recycle we had to change the wording to “Back trash!” which is where we still separate from regular trash. In Memphis, we had a separate bin and just sorted and put out on trash day as well. I had to discover the dump again as well. As a kid I remember getting rid of the trash with my mom via trips to “the dump” as curbside pick up just wasn’t available out in the country/outskirts of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Getting the studio ready and purging boxes and packaging for a family of 4 can be a chore. I have once again started taking trips to the dump and took my youngest recently in which he held his nose and said it smelled like pig pens. It doesn’t always smell so bad but hot days are the worst!

I love how the dump also has bins for batteries, lawn trash and electronics.

Teracycle can be something great we can do to reduce waste and companies are willing to pay for the shipping with sending you a label. I’m willing to take a few extra steps or make room in the garage for compiling things to be sent in. Can you?

As many of you know Energy Fitness carries Now Sports products. I just signed up to collect for approx 10 people. I will do for my household and ask clients if they wish to bring in theirs as well. Feeling good about helping the environment.

There are over 137 companies listed on the website. Offhand, I saw Arm and Hammer, Cigarette butts, diva cup, burts bee’s, Brita, Black and Decker products, Gold Toe socks, Colgate, Febreze and many more.
