How to Detox Daily Using Dry Brush, You Have A Minute
Something I get asked often is how do I get weight off fast, build muscle, have less cellulite or lumpy legs, more hydrated skin more blood circulation. Well, those are a lot of different concerns and for this post I will be discussing what I realized I have been teaching more people lately since for the past 4 years I have been pretty consistent with daily dry brushing of my body with a boar brush bristles type of handheld tool. Previously I only did every now and then but since I have a shelf above my bathtub I see it so it has become a habit. I recently placed an order for several handheld dry brushes so I can have on hand for clients that want it immediately along with a guided onsite tutorial as needed. You can usually find one for $10 or less.
What are you toxic from you might be thinking. At least some of you, especially (no judging) those that drink daily or at least on a regular weekly basis or eat bad foods way too often. Think of all the chemicals in our body care products, plastics in food containers and packaging, environmental toxins, smokers, medications, air pollution, ground pollution that your food grows in, water quality, stress, food chemicals and the list goes on….
First a little education on the one way-valve lymphatic system!
The lymphatic system is part of the immune system. It keeps body fluid levels in balance and defends the body against infections. Lymphatic (lim-FAT-ik) vessels, tissues, organs, and glands work together to drain a watery fluid called lymph from throughout the body.
The lymphatic system also helps to remove toxins and other impurities from the body, such as carbon dioxide, sodium and other byproducts of cellular feeding on oxygen, minerals and nutrients. The system helps to remove these impurities and dispose of them through perspiration, bowel movements, urine and your breath.
Lymphatic fluid flows from the lower extremities — the liver and intestine — to the thoracic duct, which is the main channel for lymphatic drainage. In most people the thoracic duct drains into the subclavian vein on the left side.
What Are the Symptoms of Poor Lymphatic Drainage?
- fluid retention which causes swelling and pain in the arms, legs, fingers, toes, head or neck.
- swollen lymph nodes that do not go down
- an aching, heavy feeling
- difficulty with movement
- repeated skin infections
- developing hard, tight or thickened skin
- folds developing in the skin
- wart-like growths developing on the skin
- fluid leaking through the skin
The lymphatic system’s role in weight loss is to absorb digestive fat from the small intestine and transport it through the bloodstream, where it can be used as energy or removed as waste. A poorly functioning lymphatic system can lead to noticeable weight gain and extra difficulty releasing weight.

- COMPRESSION THERAPY (I can hardly workout without my calf compression sleeves and those calves work hard as pumps for your circulation.)

Where to purchase and which one? It’s kind of preference which you like. As you get older and not working on mobility as much you might need one with a handle. I don’t personally like the handle as I want to brush to feel like an extension of my hand and be able to feel the amount of pressure I’m applying especially since on the upstroke motion you want to have more pressure then adjust as needed.
One side note that I feel like mentioning is that I tried an Ayurvedic oil for my dosha and then had some time in the sun. I realized that when I dry brushed for a few days after that my skin was super sensitive due the combination of the oils likely being photosensitive. Any medications you are on or lotions or creams may make your skin more sensitive so be cautious or maybe this treatment might not be an option for you.
